Take The Reins

Date Created: 2023

Role: Writer / Editor

This anniversary video was created for the After Effects class at the University of Oklahoma. The documentary-style video was meant to inform the audience about the Rufnek Lil Sis Organization’s history and the significance behind the first all-women sooner schooner run. The footage of the all-women sooner schooner run was provided by SoonerVision.

When creating this documentary I wanted to be able to keep it entertaining as well as informative. The trickiest part was doing some of the After Effects animations with the text, but after some trial and error it ended up working out just as I envisioned it.

How Covid Affected Kids in Schools: Mini Documentary

Date Created: 2022

Role: Writer / Cinematographer / Editor

A documentary about how the COVID-19 global shutdown has affected education and the student’s mental health. This was created for the Single Camera Production class at the University of Oklahoma. It is meant to inform and educate the audience of the impact of the COVID-19 quarantine.

I was able to get multiple perspectives of the effects the COVID-19 quarantine had on the student’s education. Scheduling times and locations with all of these people was a little challenging, but the variety of perspectives made this documentary more interesting and allowed the editing process to showcase the best points that were made.

It’s Time to BeReal.

This is a commercial that was created for the Single Camera Production class at the University of Oklahoma. The commercial is meant to be informative about this new app as well as persuade the audience to want to download and use the app.

Creating a 30 second commercial is always a challenge. You have to make sure to get across the information you want and the point you want in a short time frame. Throughout the creative process some things had to be cut, but even without them the commercial was still effective. On set there were also some challenges with lighting due to the LED lights in the room, but rather than try and fight them, I decided to work with them and used red lighting to keylight my actors.

Mental Health Awareness PSA

Date Created: 2022
Role: Writer / Cinematographer / Editor
A model who feels insecure in the middle of a photoshoot. It highlights that even people who are looked up to face insecurities. This PSA was created for the Sound, Light, and Motion class at the University of Oklahoma. This PSA is meant to inform its viewers about mental health and to emphasize May as mental health awareness month. This shoot was challenging because we had to change locations last minute due to scheduling issues, but I was still able to create the clean white look that I was going for in another location.

Tales from the Tornado

Date Created: 2022
Role: Director / Cinematographer / Editor

This is an interview with tornado survivor Michelle Boydstun that was made for the Single Camera Production class at the University of Oklahoma. This interview was conducted to entertain as well as inform of the dangers of tornados and storms.

Since the tornado Michelle was caught in took place in 2010, it was harder to get photos or storm footage of the event. This made it hard to gather b-roll for the interview. I was able to get footage of the location of the tornado and recreated some of the events that took place in order to add to the story instead.

Best of Pod - Season 1 Highlight Reel

Date Created: 2023

Role: Host / Audio Recorder / Editor

I made a podcast for the Podcasting for CMP class at the University of Oklahoma called No Room to Talk Podcast. On the podcast we read reddit stories and react to them. This is the highlight reel that includes the best and funniest moments in the first season of the podcast and it was made for entertainment and to persuade people to watch or listen to the podcast.

This podcast taught me how to use podcasting equipment and organization skills through planning the podcasts and scheduling with the other hosts. Editing each podcast also allowed me to work more with Adobe Audition and grow more comfortable with the software.
